03. Five Fun Things
What I wore, read, and ate this week...
Welcome back! If you missed last week and want to catch-up, here you go!
This week I wore a new top to Pilates, and everyone
two peoplegave me so many compliments and wanted at the details. If you want to be popular and cute at Pilates, I highly recommend.
Free People top I am also going all-in on trying to break my phone addiction. (Hi, I’m Allison. And I’m a phone-a-holic.) The two things I’m trying are:
The Brick, a device that allows you to tap your phone to lock specific apps. The thing I find most helpful is that you have to actually tap your phone to unlock it. And the cutest thing is that if you try to open an app that’s locked it reminds you to “go back to living.” I’m really liking it so far, and I feel proud when I see the time I’ve “bricked” racking up.
Carrying a physical book in my purse. I don’t mind staring into space in the occasional line or waiting room, but it’s still nice to have something to distract myself. On date night this week, my husband and I popped into Barnes & Noble, and I grabbed I Who Have Never Known Men. I was hooked as soon as I read the first line on the back of the book which had something to do with 39 women trapped in a bunker. Consider me enticed. I’ll report back, but so far so good.
This week I also placed a long overdue order to Sephora with a gift card I’ve had since Christmas. I’m happy to report that I loved two of the three items. One is the perfect lip pencil. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect nudey-pink…not too pink and not too brown. This is it (in shade Banquette). The other is this serum stick. Now that I’m 40, I find even my tinted SPF to settle into the creases around my eyes. The serum stick is the answer. 10/10 recommend.
My daughter had her first solo in a school play this week. I was SO proud of her for standing up there and singing her little heart out into the mic. It reminded me of my first solo in the school Christmas play as a kindergartner. I remember how embarrassed I was that I missed my cue, so they had to start the tape over. I told her to try to alleviate some of the pressure to nail it. But, she did it. Totally nailed it. Here’s live footage of me watching her:
We hit up our one of our favorite spots for date night this week. In case you live in or near San Diego…or you ever venture here on vacation, let me tell you about the best ramen place ever. It’s literally Michelin-starred ramen straight out of Japan, and it tastes like heaven. If you’re ever near one of their locations, you have to try it. The hot tip is to get on the waiting list on Yelp to monitor your arrival time.
Anything random you’ve been enjoying this week?? Let me know in the comments!

Allison
