Five Fun Things
What I'm watching, reading, and drinking this week
Welcome back! If you missed last week and want to catch-up, here you go!
Otherwise, here are Five Fun Things to end the week
Happy Traitors finale to all who celebrate!!! My texts blew up last week with all of my friends’ takes on how the season is going and if Rob R. can really pull off the win. I won’t have watched yet at the time this is published, so no spoilers!
I’ve also really been enjoying Shrinking season 3. After not really getting into season 2, I am pleasantly surprised that the episodes have been so good. Those who follow me on Instagram know I keep posting hard-hitting quotes in my stories. Here’s my fave that sums up my coaching work SO damn well: “Maybe you’ve been kinda crushing it your whole life, and you suddenly feel like the walls are closing in on you.”
And if you also heard that quote and started nodding your head, I made a new tool this week that helps with this exact conundrum…what to do when you feel successful on paper, but keep asking yourself “is this really it?” Click here to grab it if you’re interested! And let me know what you think in the comments. It’s brand new, and your feedback would only help me make it even better. (This is my former Product Manager energy talking. Can’t take the Product Manager out of the girl.)
I’ve never been into hot tea, but I’ve created a new post-dinner ritual thanks to my daughter. A few weeks ago, so sweetly made me a peppermint tea, and it was such a nice lil’ nightcap. I think now that I’m 40 I’m finally getting what all the fuss about. My faves right now are the Trader Joe’s peppermint or Tulsi Turmeric Ginger.
I bought an Apple Pencil last week and have been doodling on my iPad. Funny enough, my handwriting has been an insecurity of mine. It’s not very feminine or neat. I have developed a style where I’ve blended script and print into one in a pretty…unique way. But, for some reason, I decided I wanted to try to use the pencil to make content for my Instagram. It’s been such a fun way to bring a bit of myself onto the page. Screw ChatGPT…more messy, authenticity.
I’m a big reader, mostly novels. The one I’m reading now is called Piglet. The main character was nicknamed Piglet by her family as a young child, and it’s somehow the name all but her best friend call her in her 30s. It’s a story about a young woman leading up to her wedding, but what really drew me into the story is her relationship with how she’s perceived by others. The lengths she goes to create a life that looks good on the outside but that ends up feeling so shitty on the inside. It’s incredibly relatable, especially the part about her relationship with her own desire, appetite, and body image. Recommend.
Anything random you’ve been enjoying this week?? Let me know in the comments!
XO,
Allison
